Drummunity: On Tuesday, July 10 at 1 pm, drum circle facilitator Lori Fithian will be visiting our kids with her collection of hand drums and percussion toys for each of our participants! This will be a loud, high- energy program! This special performance is sponsored by a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council.

Author Visit and Storytime with Julie Wenzlick – Monday, July 23, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. Julie Wenzlick is a former Chesaning High School English teacher who has published five children’s stories, all in verse. For each book, she has created songs and chants that she shares with elementary students at area schools and libraries. Three of her books focus on Annabelle and Maisie, characters based on her granddaughters. She loves giving them adventures about themselves. Her first book, The Day Annabelle was Bitten by a Doodlebug, was awarded an honorable mention in the annual Writer’s Digest Children’s Book Awards for 2017.

Music Program – Wednesday, July 25, from noon to 1 p.m.

Community Shred Day will be the first Tuesday of every month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your documents to be shredded and trash bag or box to take the shredded material home. Patrons are responsible for disposing, loading and unloading of their own shredded material. The library is not responsible for disposing of the shredded material.

The Friends of the St. Charles District Library will accept book donations the first Monday of every month from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Books must be in good condition. We cannot accept text books, encyclopedias, magazines or Reader’s Digest Condensed.

Hours of Operation: Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday closed.

The Genesee District Library (GDL) Summer Reading Challenge is underway. Patrons may visit one of GDL’s 19 branches to pick up their reading logs and sign-up prize.

Until August 4 participants can earn prizes for hitting reading benchmarks. At the end of the challenge children will earn a free book. They may also visit their library each week to put their name in a drawing for bigger prizes, including bowling parties, iPad Minis, Amazon and Flint Farmers’ Market gift cards and toys. Adults may participate as well, and at the end will win a free t-shirt or lunch bag for completing the challenge.

Yoga on DVD - The Montrose-Jennings Library will hold Yoga on DVD classes on Tuesdays, July 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 6:30 p.m. Join us for beginner/ intermediate group yoga, led by a DVD. Please bring your mat, a towel and water. Teens and adults are welcome.

Writers’ Group The Montrose-Jennings Library Writer’s Group will meet on Thursday, July 12 and 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. This group is open to the public.

Coffee and Crochet The Montrose-Jennings Library will hold a Coffee and Crochet program on Tuesday, July 17 at 6 p.m. Drop in for some coffee and learn to crochet. You can learn a new stitch or bring your own project from home. We will supply the coffee, a crochet hook and a small ball of yarn. No registration is necessary. Teens and adults are welcome.

ARK Animal Encounters - The Montrose- Jennings Library will present ARK Animal Encounters on Saturday, July 14 at 11 a.m. A variety of animals will be presented in a show and tell and touch style, blending education and entertainment. All ages are welcome.

Build a Better Car - The Montrose-Jennings Library will present Build a Better Car with Ming Louie on Tuesday, July 24 at 4 p.m. Create a car that really moves, made of foam rubber castoffs from the auto industry. Then race them to see which car is the fastest. This program is for ages 6 and up.

The Community District Library kicked off its eight-week “Libraries Rock!” summer reading program on Monday, June 11. Kids will earn tokens by recording their reading times on a concert ticket reading log. After completing the ticket, they can spin the prize wheel for a chance to earn more tokens. Tokens may be redeemed at the library’s Rock Store through Aug. 4.

Teens who sign up will receive an all-access pass to record their hours read. Awesome prizes await them as they complete their reading logs.

Libraries Rock! All children ages 0-17 are invited to join us at the Taymouth Township Library for the summer reading program. Sign-up for the six week program began on June 4.

The hours for the library are Monday 2 – 9 p.m., Tuesday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Thursday, 2 – 9 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. You may call (989) 770-4651 if you have any questions.
