GLEANER’S TRI-COUNTY ARBOR #768 of Montrose will

meet on Thursday, July 12 at 6 p.m. at the Montrose Railroad Depot, because of the July 4 holiday. The public is welcome.

CHESANING AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 12 at the Chamber Office, 218 N. Front St., Chesaning.

CHESANING AMERICAN LEGION POST #212 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the Legion Hall on McKeighan Road. Veterans who want more information about joining the organization may call (989) 845-3300 and leave a message.

• The MONTROSE LIONS CLUB board meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Montrose Railroad Depot, 154 W. State St.

RETIREES of Redmonds, Singer, Controls Company, Allied Motions and Motor Products get together on the second Tuesday of each month at noon to talk of old times and just have fun at Ponderosa Steak House, 1441 E. CHURCHES

SUMMERPRAISE! is a concert series that started in 1998, and will feature six Sunday evening concerts at the Don and Metta Mitchell Amphitheater for the Performing Arts, 225 N. Water St., Owosso. The season will include: July 8 Tribute Quartet; July 15 The Thurstons; July 22 Three Bridges; July 29 The Sheldons; Aug. 5 The New Legacy Project; and Aug. 12 Stronghold Quartet. A love offering is taken to help support the music ministries of the featured group that evening. The popular gospel music series is sponsored by the Owosso Area Ministerial Association. • The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St., will be hosting free SUMMERTIME MOVIES for kids. Tuesday, July 17 will feature “Cars 3” with kids mixing their own trail mix. Tuesday, Aug. 14 will feature “Sing” with kids building fruit kabobs. All movies will be shown from 1 to 3 p.m.

SUPPORT GROUPS

• The OWOSSO PARKINSON’S DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Memorial Healthcare, 826 W. King St.,

BAZAARS AND CRAFT SHOWS

VENDORS ARE WANTED for a crafts bazaar to be held Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Road, Chesaning. The cost is $20 for an eight foot space, $25 after Oct. 6, $5 less if vendor brings his or her own table. To register, contact Dianne Stanuszek at (989) 865-9709.

• The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop will hold its annual UMW RUMMAGE AND BAKE SALE Thursday, July 26 through Saturday, July 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., during the New Lothrop Car Show.

SCHOOLS

The CHESANING UNION SCHOOLS Board of Education will hold its annual organizational meeting on Monday, July 16 at 6 p.m. in the Chesaning High School media center.

ODDS AND ENDS

• The ST. CHARLES FARMERS’ MARKETPLACE will be held on Tuesdays this year in Coal Miners Park in St. Charles from July 10 to Oct. 16. It will continue to accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) assistance payments and debit and credit card transactions. Special events throughout the season will be held including the Haunted Fall Harvest in October. This year, it will have a paid market master to assist in the weekly market activities. Vendor registration is open. Those interested in becoming a vendor or a community sponsor may call the village office at (989) 865-8287 or email stcmarketplace@stcmi.com. The St. Charles Farmers’ Marketplace is also on Facebook.

• United Financial Credit Union will hold a FREE SEMINAR on Social Security and retirement on Wednesday, Aug. 22 from 6 to 7 p.m. at 4685 State St., Saginaw. The informational session will help attendees set their financial directions and answer questions like “What are the rules for starting your Social Security benefits?” “How do spouses coordinate their benefits?” “Are there different routes to take that could potentially increase your benefits?” and “How do you decide where Social Security fits within your retirement plans?” Space is limited, so contact the credit union at (989) 777-3620 or email marketing@unitedfinancial.org to reserve a seat.

• There will be a NEW MUSIC JAM at the Marion Springs Conservation Club, 20390 W. Brant Road, Brant, on the second Tuesday of each month from 2-4 p.m. Acoustic

• The ST. CHARLES MOVIES IN THE PARK summer series has returned this year with the first showing set for Friday, July 27 at 8:30 p.m. in Coal Miners Park, 200 Parkway Dr. in St. Charles. The free movie will be Star Wars: The Last Jedi, rated PG-13. Other free Friday movies include Finding Dory on Friday, Aug. 31, Transformers: The Last Knight on Sept. 22 and Ghostbusters (1984) on Oct. 16.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• The Montrose Masonic Lodge will hold an old-time CHICKEN BARBECUE on Sunday, July 15 from noon to 3 p.m. at 130 Parkway St., Montrose. The cost is $10 and includes chicken, side dishes, beverage and desserts.

• There will be a COMMUNITY SOUP SUPPER on the second Saturday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St., Chesaning. No reservations are needed and there is no cost. The supper is open to all. Those in need of a ride should call (989) 845- 3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• There will be a COMMUNITY BINGO LUNCHEON from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the fellowship hall of Nativity Lutheran Church, 625 W. Clinton St., in St. Charles. Friends of all ages are welcome. Bring a couple dollars’ worth of quarters and, if possible, a dish to pass for the potluck lunch. • The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop will hold its annual PULLED PORK SANDWICH boxed meal on Saturday, July 28 from noon to 3 p.m. during the New Lothrop Car Show. The boxed lunches include pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw, two cookies, chips and water for $6.

FOOD PANTRIES

• There will be FOOD DISTRIBUTION on the second Saturday of each month behind Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning. Service will be at 4:30 p.m. with distribution at 5 p.m.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

TRI-TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, at Station No. 1, 106 Spruce St. in St. Charles.

• The CHESANING/BRADY FIRE DEPARTMENT BOARD will meet on Wednesday, July 11 at 6 p.m. at Station No. 1 on Brady Road in Chesaning.
