HAZELTON TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 14 at the township office, 7505 Orchard St., New Lothrop.

NEW HAVEN TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 14, at the township hall, 2705 E. Easton, Owosso.

CHAPIN TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the township hall, 21481 Peet Road, Henderson.

SWAN CREEK TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 14 in the Township Hall, 11415 Lakefield Road, St. Charles.

CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad Street.


• The CHESANING AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY will meet on Monday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. upstairs in the museum, 602 W. Broad St., Chesaning. The program will be on the history of the Chesaning Area Emergency Relief (CAER) Center, by Kenn Bueche. There is no cost, and the public is invited to attend. Coffee will be served.

• The BURT AMERICAN LEGION POST #99 meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Burt Opera House, 12888 Nichols Road, Burt.

• The ST. CHARLES AMERICAN LEGION POST 468 meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the American Legion Hall, St. Charles.

• The BURT AMERICAN LEGION POST #99 meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Burt Opera House, 12888 Nichols Road, Burt.

CHESANING SPORTS BOOSTERS will meet on Wednesday,

June 23 at 7 p.m. in room 401 at Chesaning High School.

• The ST. CHARLES LIONS CLUB meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the St. Charles United Methodist Church, 301 W. Belle St., St. Charles.

• The MONTROSE BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL COMMITTEE will meet at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Montrose Depot, 154 W. State St., Montrose. Visitors should contact the festival email at montroseblueberryfestival@hotmail.com one week prior to the meeting in order to be placed on the agenda.


• On Wednesday, May 23, at 5 p.m., Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning will be hosting a HUMAN TRAFFICKING CLASS in the fellowship hall. Trooper Smith from the Tri-City Post of the Michigan State Police will be conducting the class. Pastor Timothy Woycik welcomes all to attend. ST. CHARLES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST COMMUNITY CENTER is open the first and third Thursday of every month from 6:30 until 8 p.m. The center is located at the corner of Clinton and Marcy Streets in St. Charles, and serves those who are in need of gently used clothing, household items and furniture (when available). The center also accept donations of gently used clothing, household items and furniture. Interested persons should stop by if they need assistance or have any questions.


• The New Lothrop VFW Post 6579 Auxiliary is holding its semi-annual PASTY SALE on Monday and Tuesday, May 21 and 22. Beef pasties are $4 each. Pick-up is Monday from 2: to 6 p.m. and Tuesday from noon to 6 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 400 N Saginaw St., Montrose. Pre-order only by calling Susan at (810) 496-7647 by Friday, May 18.

• The Chesaning Knights of Columbus will host a HAMBURGER NIGHT from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, at the Chesaning K of C Hall. The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, coney dogs, brats, sloppy joes, nachos and cheese, fries, and onion rings. Hamburger nights are open to the public.

• New Wine Church, 734 Brady St., Chesaning, holds a FREE COMMUNITY DINNER on the third Saturday of the month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Menu varies each month. Those who need a ride can call (989) 845-7878.

• There will be a WET BURRITO DINNER at the St. Charles Masonic Temple every third Friday of the month from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $10. The Masons will also deliver. Call (989) 865-8568.

• There will be a COMMUNITY SOUP SUPPER on the second Saturday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St., Chesaning. No reservations are needed and there is no cost. The supper is open to all. Those in need of a ride should call (989) 845- 3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.


CHESANING UNION SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 14, in the high school media center.


• The Memorial Healthcare free DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. on the third Friday of the month at the Owosso Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St.


• The Chesaning Middle School Builders Club will host its • The Valley Area Agency on Aging (VAAA) will hold PUBLIC HEARINGS for the annual implementation play for fiscal year 2019 on Tuesday, May 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Owosso Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St., Owosso for Shiawassee County residents, and on Thursday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Brennan Senior Center, 1301 Pingree St., Flint for Genesee County residents. These public hearings will give area residents a preview of proposed services and programs for adults ages 60 and over in Genesee and Shiawassee counties. Topics are expected to include caregiver services, planning for long-term card, in-home services, and priority services. Reservations are not needed for the public hearings. • Valley Area Agency on Aging will host SENIOR POWER DAY on Wednesday, May 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crossroads Village, 6140 Bray Road, Flint. The annual event combines resources and information on services for seniors with entertainment and fun for a memorable day. Highlights this year include the senior health expo, vintage rides at the park, music, bingo and train rides.

Tickets are $3 each and include admission to Crossroads Village, breakfast cereal bars, coffee, lunch, entertainment, senior health expo and drawings for door prizes. There will also be Share the Wealth raffle drawings at 10:30 a.m. and noon. Raffle tickets are $1, three for $2 or 10 for $5. Senior Power Day tickets are available at the Valley Area Agency on Aging offices, 225 E. Fifth St., Suite 300, Flint, or at senior centers in Genesee and Shiawassee counties. • United Financial Credit Union will offer a free seminar on RETIREMENT PLANNING on Wednesday, May 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the 4685 State St., Saginaw branch. This informational session can help attendees set their financial direction and answer some of their questions. Space is limited. • The MONTROSE TOWNSHIP FARMER’S MARKET invites the public to its sixth year of operation beginning Thursday, June 7, from 4-8 p.m. at Barber Park, 11410 Seymour Road. This year the market format includes a food truck and games from 4:30-7:30 p.m. – bring a team or mix-and-match upon arrival to play corn hole, ladder ball and giant Jenga. It will operate on the first Thursday of each month, rather than its previous weekly arrangement. The market dates are: June 7, July 5, Aug. 2, Sept. 6 and Oct. 4. Food trucks scheduled to make an appearance include: HQ Vigilante Food Truck from Owosso, Cheese Trap Food Truck from Frankenmuth and Heave on a Roll Food Truck from Howell. • Military veterans are invited to the St. Charles Area Museum, 603 Chesaning St., on Saturday, May 19 at 9 a.m. for ARMED FORCES DAY. This is an opportunity for everyone who served in the military to meet other veterans in the community. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring a 4x6 photos or anything related to their time spent in the military so it can be added to the military section of the museum.
