• The CHESANING AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY will hold its first meeting of 2018 on Monday, April 9 at 6 p.m. at the Lions Club on Corunna Road. This will be the annual election of officers. Anyone interested in running for an office should call the museum at (989) 845-3155. There will also be a potluck dinner. CHESANING AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday, April 12 at the Chamber Office, 218 N. Front St., Chesaning.

• The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St., will host an AFTERNOON AT THE MOVIES on Sunday, April 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. The featured movie will be God’s Not Dead 2. The church will be serving popcorn and refreshments. Everyone is welcome.


• There will be a COMMUNITY SOUP SUPPER on the second Saturday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St., Chesaning. No reservations are needed and there is no cost. The supper is open to all. Those in need of a ride should call (989) 845- 3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• The Chapin United Methodist Church, 19848S. Chapin Road, will host a HAM AND TURKEY SUPPER with all the fixings on Saturday, April 14 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. A free will offering will be collected, and take-outs are available. Proceeds will go to the building maintenance fund.

• Broad Street Events presents BREAKFAST WITH THE STARS on Sunday, April 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, 15053 McKeighan Road, Chesaning. Featured guests will be the Frozen sisters and Cinderella, along with Batman and Captain America. The cost is $10 per person for the all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, free for children ages 2 and under. There will also be face painting, balloon animals and more. • The Respite Volunteers of Shiawassee SPRING PURSE PARTY BINGO will be Thursday, April 19 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Owosso. Tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 day of event, if tickets are still available. Admission includes bingo cards to play 20 games and snacks. Winners win a purse of at least $45 retail value. • Registration for the 2018-2019 school year is open for ST. CHARLES CHILDREN’S CENTER. Those interested in enrolling a child in Sunshine Learning Center Preschool or Bulldog Kids Care can pick up a registration form at St. Charles Elementary or call (989) 865-9210 to request a form be mailed to them. Sunshine Learning Center’s Preschool program is held in a safe, nurturing environment that promotes discovery and exploration leading to physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. Sunshine Learning Center is a tuition-based program and offers three program options. Enrollment will continue until all spots are filled. Bulldog Kids Care operates year-round child care serving children ages 2 and one-half to fifth grade. It offers full day care, before- and after-school care and summer care all at an affordable price. It offers a safe and convenient environment for children to learn and play.

CHESANING UNION SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 9, in the high school media center.

MONTROSE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION Educational Improvement Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., and the Technology Committee will meet at 7:30 p.m on Tuesday, April 10 in the Central Office conference room, 300 Nanita Dr., Montrose.

• New Lothrop Area Public Schools is hosting a COMMUNITY MEETING/BREAKFAST with Superintendent Dr. Anthony Berthiaume on Saturday, May 5 in the high school cafeteria. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m., followed by a presentation. An open forum will immediately follow the presentation. The public is invited to attend. • Memorial Healthcare’s next free LUNCH AND LEARN presentation will be held on Tuesday, April 17 from 1 to 2 pm. This month’s speaker will be Kerri Smith, registered dietician with Memorial Healthcare, who will speak on “Nutrition in Cancer Care.” This presentation will be held at Memorial’s Medical Arts Building, 721 N. TRI-TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, at Station No. 1, 106 Spruce St. in St. Charles.

• The CHESANING/BRADY FIRE DEPARTMENT BOARD will meet on Wednesday, April 11 at 9 a.m. at Station No. 1 on Brady Road in Chesaning.

• Memorial Healthcare will be holding a FREE CANCER SCREENING event on Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Medical Arts Building, 721 N. Shiawassee St. in Owosso. Memorial’s oncology physician specialists will be preforming the screenings. This event is open to everyone and will include cancer screenings for breast (clinical breast exam), prostate, and skin. Lab services will also be available for Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), and a take-home colorectal cancer screening kit will be available. Pre-registration is required. Reservations can be made by contacting Memorial’s Call Center at (989) 729-6422 or toll-free at 1-866-900-6422. Walk-ins will be accepted up to one hour prior to closing.

• Memorial Healthcare’s Diabetes Support Group is hosting a presentation on DIABETIC FOOT CARE, diabetic shoes, and how to qualify for insurance coverage for footwear. This free event will be presented by a representative from the Wright and Filippis Company. Those with foot care issues due to diabetes are encouraged to attend. This event will be held on Wednesday, April 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Healthcare Community Wellness, Nutrition and Diabetes Center, Woodard Station (North Entrance), 317 N. Elm St., Suite 202, Owosso. There is no cost or registration

• The KIDS’ SPRING SUCKER TOURNAMENT will be held on Saturday, April 21 on the Showboat Park shoreline in Chesaning. Registration is at 10:30 a.m. with fishing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $5 per child. Age groups are 9 and under and 10-16. Night crawlers will also be available. There will be cash prizes and other drawings following the tournament. The event is sponsored by the Chesaning Kiwanis Club. For more information, contact Andrew Hasse at (989) 274-6026.

• There will be a COMMUNITY BINGO LUNCHEON from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the fellowship hall of Nativity Lutheran Church, 625 W. Clinton St., in St. Charles. Friends of all ages are welcome. Bring a couple dollars’ worth of quarters and, if possible, a dish to pass for the potluck lunch. • Chesaning Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 201 S. Front St., will be hosting office hours with 85th District STATE REP. BEN FREDERICK on Monday, April 16 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. There will also be after hours with the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce. The public is welcome to attend this opportunity for questions and answers. Refreshments and appetizers will be served.


• Ashley Community Schools will hold a flea market, craft show and greenhouse sale on Saturday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school. The greenhouse sale will be located on the corner of Oak and New streets, behind the church, and will last until supplies are gone. Greenhouse pricing is $12 per flat, $15 per hanging basket or two for $25, and $20 per patio pot or two for $35. Items include green bell peppers, early girl tomatoes, watermelon, petunias, marigolds, cucumber, geraniums, impatiens and more. Craft show admission is $1 at the door. Concessions will be available. • There will be FOOD DISTRIBUTION on the second Saturday of each month behind Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning. Service will be at 4:30 p.m. with distribution at 5 p.m.


• A PARKINSON’S DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP will meet on Wednesday, April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Medical Arts building, 721 N. Shiawassee St., Owosso.
