Chesaning gals place second, third at TVC jams

Chesaning’s varsity girls’ golf team was impressive in its last two TVC-West jamboree outings, beating out Freeland for the first time in school history and finishing second at the Freeland Jam on September 9 and placing third among the 10 division schools at its own Jamboree last Thursday at Twin Brooks GC in Chesaning.

Lindsey Schirle led the way for CHS on Thursday with a 51 while Abby Wallace and Megan Ashley came in with 56’s. Natalie Skaryd fired a 59 to round out the team scoring at 222. Hannah Fowler shot a 60 in the tourney won by Freeland. Frankenmuth placed second in the seventh jamboree of the season for the league.

The Lady Indians carded an impressive 215 team score in the sixth jamboree of the year at Freeland’s Twin Oaks course, edging out the host Lady Falcons by a single shot and coming in 13 strokes behind first place Frankenmuth.

Wallace shot a solid 47 to lead the Tribe, followed by Schirle at 52. Ashley turned in a 54 and Fowler completed the team scoring with a 62. Skaryd shot a 64.

In a non-league dual match last Monday, Chesaning beat Corunna, 213 to 258 as Schirle fired a stellar 45 to lead all golfers. Ashley was right on her heals with a 46 while Skaryd and Fowler finished with 58 and 64, respectively.

In the three-person JV competition the same day between the two teams, Chesaning prevailed by a 192-208 margin. Andrea Wallace led the CHS JV squad with a 57. Kassidy Bucholz and Caleigh Amman completed the scoring with 67 and 68 tallies.
