GOVERNMENT MEETINGS
• MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet
at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, in the township hall,
17010 Lincoln Road.
• MONTROSE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF
TRUSTEES will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18
in the Township Hall, 139 S. Saginaw.
• CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet
at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, in the council
chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad
Street.
• The Montrose Christmas Candlewalk
Committee will meet on Monday, Aug. 17 at 6
p.m. at the Montrose Railroad Depot. Merchants
and volunteers are encouraged to attend the
meetings if they want to be part of the event
this year.
• MONTROSE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at the
city office, 141 Parkway St.

CLUBS AND CIVIC GROUPS
• NEW LOTHROP LIONS CLUB will meet at 7
p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at the New Lothrop
Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
•The SHIAWASSEE QUILTERS meet on the third
Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior
Center, 300 N. Washington St., Owosso. Some

of their activities include making charity quilts,
quilt speakers, trunk shows, round robins, mystery quilts, prizes, free fat quarters, and tips of
the months.
• The BURT AMERICAN LEGION POST #99
meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7
p.m. at the Burt Opera House, 12888 Nichols
Road, Burt.
• CHESANING SPORTS BOOSTERS will meet on
Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. in room 401 at
Chesaning High School.
• The ST. CHARLES LIONS CLUB will meet
on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. at the St.
Charles United Methodist Church, 301 W. Belle
St., St. Charles.
• The TAYMOUTH TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL
ASSOCIATION will hold its monthly meeting on
Thursday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Taymouth
Township Library, 2361 E. Burt Road, Burt.

SUPPORT GROUPS
• The Memorial Healthcare free DIABETES
SUPPORT GROUP will meet from 1 to 2 p.m.
on the third Friday of the month at the Owosso
Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St.
• The Memorial Healthcare PROSTATE CANCER
SUPPORT GROUP meets on the third Monday
of the month from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Community
Room at the Memorial Cancer Center, 721 N.
Shiawassee St., Owosso. For more information,

CHURCHES
• ST. CHARLES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST
COMMUNITY CENTER is open the first and third
Thursday of every month from 6:30 until 8 p.m.
The center is located at the corner of Clinton
and Marcy Streets in St. Charles, and serves
those who are in need of gently used clothing,
household items and furniture (when available).

The center also accept donations of gently
used clothing, household items and furniture.
Interested persons should stop by if they need
assistance or have any questions.
• The New Lothrop Community Life Center
is hosting FREE FUN FRIDAY on Aug. 21
from 9-11 a.m. There will be inflatables, craft
stations, game stations, and a three-story
playscape - all for free. The cafe will be open
for snacks and specialty drinks and free Wi-Fi.
Children must be accompanied by an adult and
wear socks for the playscape. The Community
Life Center is located at 7406 S. Saginaw St. in

SENIORS
• There will be a SENIOR HEALTH FAIR on
Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
at the First United Methodist Church of New
Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St. Presenters will
include a nutritionist/dietician from McLaren
Health Care; advance care planning; a physical
therapist from MHG; neuro-stroke information
and blood pressure checks; the Valley Area
Agency on Aging; Mannor Elder Law; and veterans. A free healthy lunch and beverages will be
provided for all. Everyone is welcome.

REUNIONS
• The Chesaning Union High School Class of
1975 will be having its 40TH CLASS REUNION
on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the new Pintown
Pizza and Lanes in Chesaning, next to the Peet
Community Center, starting at 7 p.m. There will
be a cash bar and food can be ordered from the
menu. A 50/50 raffle will be held to defray cost,
with the drawing at 10 p.m. Come early, stay
late, just come. Spread the word and check out
the Facebook page 1975 Chesaning Union 40th

Class Reunion.

ODDS & ENDS
• The First United Methodist Church of
New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St., will host
EMPOWERING PARENTING free for all age
parents and grandparents. Two 90 minute parenting support classes (with a third to be determined) will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17 and
Sept. 24 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the church. The
classes will be led by Jerry and Dannett Rice. To

FUNDRAISERS
• Scrapbook fans will enjoy the fifth annual
SCRAPBOOK FALL CROP FUNDRAISER on
Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at
the Good Shepherd Family Life Center, 400 N.
Saginaw St., in Montrose. The public is invited
to attend the 12-hour scrapbook event. Guests
may bring projects and supplies. The $40 registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, dinner,
dessert, beverages, snacks, games and prizes.
Vendors will be on hand to sell scrapbook
supplies. There will be a “crop related” garage
sale/silent auction. Bring items to trade or no
longer needed – participants keep the profit.
Participants will be seated at a six-foot table
with electrical outlet, and receive free valet
service by teens who will be nearby throughout
the day to serve and help if needed. Proceeds
benefit the youth group and help defray expenses for its annual jamboree event. To register, or
