Book Discussion Group: Our selection for the June book discussion is Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. Stop by the library and pick up a copy then join us on Wednesday, July 15, at 7 p.m. for discussion and refreshments!

Summer Reading: Registration for summer reading continues until July 24. The theme this year is Every Hero Has a Story. We have many fun activities and incentives planned for this summer. Be a superhero and read!

July 7: Dynamic West School Assemblies will be here at 2 p.m. with their rousing Rock and Roll Heroes program. Learn about the legends and heroes of rock and roll, in this fun, interactive and energizing concert. This presentation is open to all ages and is sure to offer an entertaining and hilarious snapshot of the music that helped shape a generation.

Kids Program: From 2-3 p.m. on July 9, Miss Carol will return to teach our youngest children how they can be heroes by recycling. She will also be demonstrating how to make crafts using recycled materials.

Summer Reading Program for all ages runs now through July 24. Stop by the library to register or view our website for program information.

Join us on Tuesday, July 7, at 1 p.m. to walk through the St. Charles History Museum. Come enjoy the museum and learn about our local heroes!

Children’s End of Summer Reading Party will be Tuesday, July 14, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Hartley Outdoor Education Center. There will be coal mine tours, balloon tying, crafts, games and snacks.

Join us on Thursday, July 16, at 1 p.m. for a Fire Department Walk- Through and meet our local fireman heroes!

On Wednesday, July 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. we will have face painting.

July 7 at 4 p.m. it’s the Super Hero Costume Workshop at the New Lothrop Branch. Bring a t-shirt and learn how to turn it into a cape and mask. This quest counts towards the Super Hero badge. Phone 810-638-7575 to register.

July 8 at 11 a.m. the Dr. Slime Science Program will be held at the New Lothrop Branch. Phone 810-638-7575 to register.

Attending the programs counts as quests for those enrolled in the Summer Badge Blast program.

We serve Chapin and Marion Township in Saginaw County, and we also serve Gratiot County.

Summer Library Hours are: Tuesday noon – 7 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Our children’s summer reading program begins Tuesday, July 7! Lunch for children is at 12:30 p.m. At 1:30 p.m. we will present the Magical Adventures of Super Bear by magician Gordon Russ.

Sign up for Summer Reading and earn prizes for your reading time. You can sign up on July 7 or any time after. Thursday, July 9 come and visit with Officer Larry Litwiller from the Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served after that.

The library board will be meeting on Monday, July 20 at 5 p.m. We need representatives from Hamilton, North Star, and Washington Townships. Please call the library at 989-847-4283 ext. 1007 if interested. All are welcome to attend the meeting!
