AUXILIARY is opening its bylaws. Officers
are accepting recommendations until July 31.
Members’ input will be appreciated.
• The MONTROSE DEPOT is accepting donations for its annual yard sale held during the
Blueberry Festival Aug. 13-16. Donations can
be dropped off at 154 E. State St. during the
hours of 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., Monday through
Friday. Donations may also be left on the

SUPPORT GROUPS
• The Memorial Healthcare CANCER
SUPPORT GROUP meets on the first Monday
of the month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the
Community Room at the Memorial Cancer
Center, 721 N. Shiawassee St., Owosso. For

• Got a few pounds to lose? Join CHESANING
TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) at the
Rehmann Health Center on Thursdays at 8:30
a.m. Members win rewards as they lose.
Weekly dues are only $1.25. There is a fee
to join, and members receive a magazine with
recipes, research and support stories each

• WAIST-A-WEIGH, a weight loss support
group, meets Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and 7

#1175, a weight-loss support group, meets

• TOPS #MI.1313, Chesaning has moved
to St. Michael Campus, 11994 Lincoln
Road (back ramp entrance to the office

SCHOOLS
• SUNSHINE LEARNING CENTER is still
accepting registrations for the 2015-2016
school year. The program offers three different classes at St. Charles Elementary School.

ODDS & ENDS
• The third annual FRANKIE BURGESS
MEMORIAL SAND DRAGS will be held on
Saturday, July 11 at the Saginaw County
Fairgrounds, 11350 Peet Road, Chesaning.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with a drivers’ meeting at noon. Bracket racing starts at
1 p.m. with the championship round scheduled for 6 p.m. Winner package registration
is $75 (early registration only) which includes
race fee, event t-shirt and custom number
plate. Race package registration includes race
entry only and is $40 for preregistration, $50
the day of the event. For early registration

com. General admission will be $5 per person. There will be a vendor alley and concessions, but no alcohol is permitted. Classes
are Sportsman (trophy only), Super Mod, No
Limit Mod, Street Diesel (trophy only), No
Limit Diesel and Snowmobile. Payouts will be
determined based on class participation for

•The Chesaning Knights of Columbus will be
hosting a BLOOD DRIVE on Thursday, July
9 from 1-6 p.m. at 9171 Deitering Road,
Chesaning. Participants should bring an ID
and eat before donating.
• Family reunions, wedding receptions, open
houses or showers can be booked at the
new FAMILY LIFE CENTER at Good Shepherd
Parish, 400 N. Saginaw St., in Montrose.
Spacious facility includes a full kitchen and

• The Montrose Senior Citizen Center will
be holding a EUCHRE TOURNAMENT every
Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Players must be
at least 18 years old. No alcohol or tobacco

be held at the senior center, 200 Alfred St.,
Montrose.

• The MONTROSE RAILROAD DEPOT is available for rental on Saturdays and Sundays, for
a donation of $50. Seating is available for 45

CHURCHES
• Oakley Community Church, 327 S. Main
St., Oakley, conducts BIBLE STUDY every
Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
• CHESANING BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH will
hold mid-week services on Wednesdays at 6
p.m.
• There will be a non-denominational BIBLE
STUDY every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in
the fellowship room at the Chesaning Seventh
Day Adventist Church, 331 S. Clark St. For
those who are seeking to understand the
Bible in a more comprehensive way, this is
for them.
• St. John Lutheran Church in Marion Springs
is hosting EVEREST VACATION BIBLE
SCHOOL July 27-31 from 9-11:30 a.m. Ages
4 (with an adult) to fifth grade are welcome.

• Juddville United Methodist Church will
welcome Pastor Dan Wallington with a
POTLUCK DINNER on Sunday, July 12. Pastor
Wallington will start preaching on July 5, but
with many in the congregation expected to
be gone for the holiday, the potluck will be
held the following week at the church. The
church will provide coffee and Swiss steak.
Attendees should bring a dish to pass, and
their own dishes, silverware and drinks.
• Juddville United Methodist Church is hosting an ICE CREAM SOCIAL on Wednesday,
July 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. The people of
Juddville will be cranking homemade ice
cream on Monday, July 13 for the social on
July 15, featuring homemade ice cream,
different toppings and homemade cake. The
suggested donation is $5. The church is
located at the corner of Juddville and Durand
Roads.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP
• The Trinity United Methodist Church women’s group is putting on a ROAST BEEF
DINNER and dessert on Friday, July 10, from
5 to 7 p.m. at the church, 1629 W. Brady
Road, Chesaning. The cost is $10.
• There will be a COMMUNITY SOUP
SUPPER on the second Saturday of each
month from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Trinity
United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St.,
Chesaning. No reservations are needed and
there is no cost. The supper is open to all.
Those in need of a ride should call (989) 845-
3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• There will be a BREAKFAST BUFFET served
on Saturday, July 11 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at
the Masonic Temple in Montrose. The cost is
$6.50 for the all-you-can-eat meal. Proceeds
will go towards the scholarship fund.

FUNDRAISERS
• Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 400 N.
Saginaw St., Montrose, will host BINGO every
Thursday in the Family Life Center. Doors
open at 5 p.m. and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.
Concessions will be available. This is a fundraiser to help with expenses of the parish.
• Donations are being accepted for the
MONTROSE VETERANS BELL MEMORIAL.

SENIORS
• The MARION TOWNSHIP SENIOR CITIZENS
meet the first Monday of each month for a
potluck dinner at the Marion Township Hall. All

HEALTH & SAFETY
• TRI-TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT BOARD

will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, at
Station No. 1, 106 Spruce St. in St. Charles.
• The CHESANING/BRADY FIRE
DEPARTMENT BOARD will meet on
Wednesday, July 8 at 6 p.m. at Station No. 1
on Brady Road in Chesaning.

REUNIONS
• The Chesaning Union High School and Our
Lady High School Classes of 1960 will be
celebrating their 55TH CLASS REUNION on
Saturday, July 25 at the Oakley Village Hall
and picnic area, 205 Parshall St. in Oakley. It
will be an all-day picnic from noon to 6 p.m.
Organizers have reserved the indoor air conditioned hall and the outdoor pavilion. Pass the
word to all fellow classmates. There is no reservation fee. Food and drinks will be provided.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their 50th
anniversary orange and gold t-shirts.
