GOVERNMENT MEETINGS
• MONTROSE CITY COUNCIL will meet at
6 p.m. for a budget hearing, and then at 7
p.m. for the regular meeting on a special day,
Monday, May 5 at the city office, 141 Parkway
St.
• SWAN CREEK TOWNSHIP PLANNING
COMMISSION will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday,
May 6, at the township hall, 11415 Lakefield
Road, St. Charles.
• MARION TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at
7:30 p.m. on May 5, in the township hall,
11925 S. Merrill Rd.
• CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at
7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad Street.
• BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30
p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at the township hall,
16020 W. Peet Road, Oakley.
• ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet
on Monday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the township
hall, 1003 N. Saginaw St., St. Charles.

CLUBS AND CIVIC GROUPS
• MONTROSE HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION
members will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, at
the Montrose Historical and Telephone Pioneer
Museum, 144 E. Hickory St.
• NEW LOTHROP LIONS CLUB will meet at 7
p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 at the New Lothrop
Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

• The FRIENDS OF THE MONTROSE-JENNINGS
LIBRARY will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesady,
May 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jennings Memorial
Library in the community room, 241 Feher Dr.,
Montrose. The public is welcome to attend.
• The CHESANING KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
meet on the first Wednesday of each month
at 8 p.m. at the Hall, 9171 Deitering Road,
Chesaning.
• CHESANING AREA CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday,
May 8at the Chamber Office, 218 N. Front St.,
Chesaning.
• ST. CHARLES HISTORICAL SOCIETY members will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May
7, at the St. Charles Historical Museum, 603
Chesaning St. Regular hours at the museum
are Tuesdays from noon to 2 p.m.; Thursdays
from 5 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m.
to noon.

CHURCHES
• CHESANING BIBLE BAPTISTCHURCH will
hold mid-week services on Wednesdays at 6
p.m., beginning May 7.
• ST. CHARLES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST
COMMUNITY CENTER is open the first and
third Thursday of every month from 6:30 p.m.
until 8 p.m. The center is located at the corner
of Clinton and Marcy Streets in St. Charles, and
serves those who are in need of gently used
clothing, household items and furniture (when
available). The center also accept donations of
gently used clothing, household items and furniture. Interested persons should stop by if they
need assistance or have any questions.

HEALTH & SAFETY
• TRI-TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT BOARD
will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, at
Station No. 1, 106 Spruce St. in St. Charles.

SENIORS

• The MARION TOWNSHIP SENIOR CITIZENS
meet the first Monday of each month for a
potluck dinner at the Marion Township Hall. All
senior citizens are welcome. For more information, call 643-2201 or 643-5635.
• The Montrose Township Senior Center is
hosting a trip to a DETROIT TIGERS GAME on
Wednesdsay, June 18, when the Tigers host the
Kansas City Royals. The bus will leave the center at approximately 9:30 a.m. The game starts
at 1:08 p.m. The cost is $18 per person. Those
who sign up for a ticket must use the ticket, or
the center will not receive any next year. Signups must be done in advance, first come, first
served. All bus riders must pay the bus fee
by May 11, no exceptions and no refunds. For

• The Valley Area Agency on Aging will hold
SENIOR POWER DAY on Wednesday, May 21,
from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crossroads Village,
6140 Bray Road in Flint. The cost is $3 per person for residents ages 60 and over of Genesee
and surrounding counties, and includes admission to Crossroads Village, coffee and breakfast
bar, boxed lunch and ice cream. Visitors will
also enjoy bingo, fun entertainment, a train ride
on the Huckleberry Railroad, door prizes and the
Senior Expo tent. Tickets must be purchased
prior to the event to guarantee a lunch. Tickets
may be purchased at local senior centers
throughout Genesee County, or at Valley Area
Agency on Aging and the Genesee County Parks
and Recreation Commission. The Montrose
Township Senior Center will have a bus leaving
the center at approximately 8:20 a.m. and
returning at 2:30 p.m. Bus riders should sign up
in advance by calling the center at (810) 639-
2822.

SCHOOLS
• NEW LOTHROP AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS
BOARD OF EDUCATION will hold a special

meeting to discuss a time line for the superintendent search at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 9, in
the High School Library, 9285 Easton Rd., New
Lothrop.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP
• There will be a COMMUNITY SOUP SUPPER
on the second Saturday of each month from 5
to 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church,
1629 Brady St., Chesaning. No reservations
are needed and there is no cost. The supper is
open to all. Those in need of a ride should call
(989) 845-3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to
2 p.m.
• There will be a BREAKFAST BUFFET served
on Saturday, May 10 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at
the Masonic Temple in Montrose. The cost is
$6.50 for the all-you-can-eat meal. Proceeds will
go towards the scholarship fund.

SUPPORT GROUPS
• The SHIAWASSEE COUNTY MULTIPLE
SCLEROSIS SELF-HELP GROUP will meet on
Tuesday, May 6 at 6 p.m. at the Memorial
Healthcare Cancer Center, 721 N. Shiawassee
St., Owosso. For more information, call Brenda

• The SAGINAW COUNTY STROKE SUPPORT
GROUP will meet on Wednesday, May 7 from
3 to 4 p.m. at Healthsource Saginaw, 3340
Hospital Road, Saginaw.

ODDS & ENDS
• There will be a NEW MUSIC JAM at the
Marion Springs Conservation Club, 20390 W.
Brant Road, Brant, on the second Tuesday of
each month from 2-4 p.m. Acoustic instruments
