Hickory St. • NEW LOTHROP LIONS CLUB will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the New Lothrop Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. • ST. CHARLES VFW POST #5695 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the VFW Hall, 232 S. Saginaw St. in St. Charles. • The FRIENDS OF THE MONTROSEJENNINGS LIBRARY will meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the Jennings Memorial Library in the Community Room, 241 Feher Dr., Montrose. The public is welcome to attend. • The ST. CHARLES AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will meet at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Hartley Outdoor Education Center. • CHESANING AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Chamber Office, 218 N. Front St., Chesaning. • The MID-MICHIGAN SECTION OF THE SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS – SAE International will meet on Monday, Nov. 12 at the Holiday Inn Gateway Center, US-23 at Hill Road, Flint. The speaker for the evening will be Mark Stielow on “Pro Touring Muscle Cars.” Social hours is at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and the program at 7:45 p.m. The cost for SAE and SVEC members is $25, $20 for retired members and $18 for students. FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose will be hosting its monthly COUNTRY BREAKFAST on Sunday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Family Life Center. The menu of pancakes, ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuit and sausage gravy will be served. This is a free will donation, and a fundraiser for the needs of the parish. • Chesaning American Legion Post 212 will hold their MONTHLY BREAKFASTS on the first Sunday of the month. The breakfasts will run from 7:30 a.m. until noon. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children, and free for children 5 and under. The menu will include bacon, sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits, French toast, pancakes, hash browns, eggs to order, milk, orange juice, and coffee. Attendees are encouraged to bring an item for the CAER Center Pantry to help replenish it for those less fortunate and in need of these items. The Legion is also accepting new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Kids Program as well. • The Annual HARVEST DINNER will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St., New Lothrop. The all-you-can-eat menu will include Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, squash, green beans, cole slaw, rolls, pie, and beverages. Suggested donations are $9 for adults, $4 for children ages5-12, and free for ages 4 and under. • There will be a BREAKFAST BUFFET served on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Masonic Temple in Montrose. The cost is $6 for the all-you-can-eat meal. Proceeds will go towards the scholarship fund. • There will be a COMMUNITY SOUP SUPPER on the second Saturday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St., Chesaning. No reservations are needed and there is no cost. The supper is open to all. Those in need of a ride should call (989) 845-3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. • There will be a VETERANS' DINNER on Sunday, Nov. 11 at the New Lothrop VFW Hall. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. The menu will include turkey and all the trimmings, shepherd's pie, and mashed potatoes and gravy. Riverside Market is donating the turkey. All are welcome to honor the nation's heroes. To reserve a seat, contact Susan at (810) 496-7647. • St. Martin Lutheran Church will be holding an all-you-can-eat COD FISH FRY on Friday, Nov. 9 in the fellowship hall, 10995 Canada Road at Gera Road, Birch Run. Serving times will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. The menu includes cod, french fries, cole slaw, bread, coffee or milk. Desserts are available. The cost is $10 for adults, $7 for youths ages 5 to 12, and free for those under age 5. Tickets and take-outs are available at the door.

SUPPORT GROUPS

• The SHIAWASSEE COUNTY MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SELF-HELP GROUP will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the St. Johns United Church of Christ, 429 N. Washington St. in Owosso. For more information, call Brenda Johnson at (989) 288- 5241. • The SAGINAW COUNTY STROKE SUPPORT GROUP will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Healthsource Saginaw, 3340 Hospital Road, Saginaw.

BAZAARS AND CRAFT SHOWS

• A CRAFT BAZAAR fundraiser for the Chesaning Area Emergency Relief (CAER) Center and the Chesaning Senior Citizen Center will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Big Rock Elementary School. Please bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation per person for the entry fee. Other cash donations will be accepted. Vendors can secure tables by calling (989) 865-6679 or the church office at (989) 865-9091. • There will be a CHRISTMAS BAZAAR AND COOKIE WALK at the Montrose United Methodist Church, 158 E. State St. (M-57) on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Table rental is $20 or two for $35. Call Jackie at (810) 639-6812 or (810) 922- 5308. • The Chesaning Music Boosters’ annual CRAFT SHOW will take place at the Chesaning Middle School and High School on Friday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 250 vendors will participate in this event. Admission is $2, and strollers aren’t permitted. Shuttle buses and concessions will be available. Come enjoy the delicious luncheon, unique items and homemade ethnic bakery, jams and jellies sold by the Altar Society and vendors. Vendors are still needed. For more information, call Rosemary Houska at (989) 862-5021. • The Oakley Community Church women’s group will be having a FALL BAZAAR on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Oakley Village Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be baked goods for sale and lunch served. • The Nelson United Methodist Church will hold its annual HOLIDAY BAZAAR, BAKE SALE AND WHITE ELEPHANT SALE on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 5950 S. Hemlock Road. A soup and brat luncheon will be served. • Christ Lutheran Church in Birch Run will hold its annual COOKIE WALK/BAZAAR on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rental tables are open to crafters, businesses and home base consultants. The application deadline is Dec. 5. The event will feature tasty specialty cookies, handmade gifts for Christmas and many other items to select, and assorted homemade breads and candies. There will also be Rada cutlery and Stanley products. The cafeteria will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for those who are hungry. The church is located at 8101 Poelet St., Birch Run. Cherry St., Flushing. There will be baked goods, candies and crafts galore, with over 100 tables of unique items. Lunch is available. Admission is free; no strollers. • There will be a FALL CRAFTS BAZAAR on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Road, Chesaning. There will be lots of handmade crafts and well as used books. Lunch will be available. Come do some early Christmas shopping. The church is located on M-57, just west of the Village of Chesaning.

REUNIONS

• The CHESANING UNION HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1967 is planning its 45th reunion on Nov. 10 at the Golden Glow Ballroom. The cost is $30 for singles and $60 for couples. Send reservations with payment to Sue (Hudecek) Ginderske, 1633 Lynn St., Owosso, MI by Oct. 15. Organizers are also looking for an address for Emil Bellenbaum. 1967 graduates of Our Lady of Perpetual Help are welcome and encouraged to attend also. Doors open at 7 p.m. Light appetizers will be served at 8 p.m., however there is no formal dinner. There is no charge. Drinks and additional food will be available at attendees’ cost. No formal invitations are being mailed, so please spread the word. • ST. CHARLES COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, for a board retreat at Murphy Farm at the Hartley Outdoor Education Center.

VETERANS

• The SHIAWASSEE COUNTY VETERANS AFFAIRS OFFICE now has full time nationally accredited certified veterans service officers on staff. Jerilyn A. Strein, director, and Charles R. ODDS & ENDS

• There will be a CHICAGO BUS TRIP on Saturday, Nov. 17. The bus leaves New Lothrop at 6:30 a.m. and will return at approximately 11 p.m. It will arrive in Chicago near the Magnificent Mile. The cost is $80 per person, and there are a limited number of seats. Money and confirmation are needed by Oct. 29. It will be a great opportunity to Christmas shop or sight see in Chicago. Bring in one bag of groceries, or a money donation, to be donated locally to the Chesaning Area Emergency Relief (CAER) Center and receive one free adjustment/office visit. • Community Christian Fellowship, 219 S. Main St., Oakley, hosts WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. This is a time of caring and sharing led by Diane Keidel.
