Lady Indian netters blank Caro, 8-0

(TCC Photo by Hillary Grigonis) CHESANING – The Indian varsity tennis gals blanked visiting Caro 8-0 on Tuesday, May 1.

Kelsey Luha pulled out a hard-fought win at No. 1 singles, going 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. At the No. 2 slot, Rebekah Andrews won 6-1, 6-4. Melissa Escamilla took a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3, while Kelsey Stoll won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4.

In doubles play, Kelly Small and Haley Thurston teamed for a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1. The No. 2 team of Jessica Thiel and Madeline Ervin won 6-1, 6-2. Samantha Pratt and Valerie Calandrino were straight set 6-0, 6-0 winners at the No. 3 spot. Chelsea Ironside and Alayna Conklin won 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot.

On Thursday, May 3, the Indians started a match with visiting Essexville Garber, but play was suspended due to rain. The match was slated to continue aon Friday.

On Friday, April 27, the Lady Indians traveled to the Bullock Creek Lancer Invitational at Midland. Bay City All Saints came away the winner in the tourney.

On Saturday, April 28, the Chesaning gals were sixth at the Nouvel Invitational. The host Panthers won the tournament.

Chesaning is 3-1-1 on the season.
