WORMS! Come play with worms!!! Renee from the Mid Michigan Waste Authority will be coming on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 10:30 a.m. to teach us all about worms and composting. Come play with us (and the worms)!

The River Rapids District Library Board of Trustees will be meeting next Thursday, Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. for their monthly meeting. The public is welcome!

Employment Opportunity: River Rapids District Library is seeking an innovative, energetic applicant to provide programs and services to children age 0-18. Applicant should be comfortable working with children, be techsavvy, and have a knowledge of children’s literature. Some evening and weekends required. Fifteen hours per week, $10 per hour. Book Discussion Group is reading The Secret Scripture by Heather Gudenkauf. We will be meeting Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. Stop in and pick up a copy to enjoy. Bring a friend; there will be yummy refreshments!

We are again participating in the Park & Read Program through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Park and Recreation and the Library of Michigan. Visit the library to borrow a book and a one-day vehicle permit good at any Michigan State Park and Recreation Area. Many parks will have hammocks available for Park & Read participants so you can fully enjoy a great book in Michigan’s great outdoors. Stop in to the library and check out a pass. You will get a certificate good for a one-day park entrance to be used within the next seven days. Grab a book, pick a park and enjoy a relaxing day of outdoor reading!

We still have the Michigan DNR “Park & Read” free one day passes to Michigan State Parks available at the library. Please stop and ask for your free pass at the circulation desk.

The St. Charles District Library board will meet on Sunday, Aug. 28.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. New members are invited and welcome to attend!

Summer hours of operation are: Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday – CLOSED (now through Labor Day).
