Tribe netters win 3 of 4 dual meets

(TCC Photo By Hillary Grigonis) Chesaning’s varsity tennis team was busy this past week, winning three of four dual meets as the Lady Indians beat Caro, 8-0, Hemlock, 7-1, and Essexville Garber, 7-1, but lost to Williamston by a 7-1 score.

Kelsie Luha was a perfect 4-0 in singles play this week while Erica Toma and Andrea Rickerd went 3-1. Makenzie Smith posted a 2-1 singles mark while Madeline Ervin lost her only match of the week.

In doubles play, the teams of Kelly Small/Halee Thurston, Melissa Escamilla/Rebekah Andrews and Lyndsay Turnwald/Jill Poag all went 3-1. Lydia Chludil/Treasure Lawton broke even at 2-2 for the week.

Chesaning’s team record is now 6-0 in conference play and 6-1 overall. The Lady Indians have won two tournaments so far this season, placing first at the Jim Teal Invitational and the Lancer Invitational. The Tribe finished second in the City by the Bay Invitational.
