HAZELTON TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14 at the township office, 7505 Orchard St., New Lothrop. • CHAPIN TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at the township hall, 21481 Peet Road, Elsie. • SWAN CREEK TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14 in the Township Hall, 11415 Lakefield Road. • MONTROSE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 in the Township Hall, 139 S. CHESANING AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will meet at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14 at the Chamber Office, 218 N. Front St., Chesaning. • NEW LOTHROP LIONS CLUB will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at the New Lothrop Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. • CHESANING AREA SNOWMOBILERS ASSOCIATION will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chesaning. For information call Cheryl Ziola at (989) 643-7812. • NEW LOTHROP VFW POST #6579 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the VFW Hall, 8235 Saginaw St. • The MONTROSE BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL COMMITTEE will meet on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at Jennings Memorial Library. • The CHESANING HISTORICAL SOCIETY will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. in the lower level of the museum. This will be a potluck dinner; please bring a dish to pass and own setting. Meat will be provided. At this time they will also be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the historical society, with guests from the beginning of the society. Everyone is invited to come and join the fun.

Odds & Ends

• The Chesaning High School Media Center is selling 2 GB USB THUMB DRIVES for $16 each. They come in orange or black, and have “Chesaning Indians” engraved on one side, and the Indian head logo on the other. They are made in the United States and would make great Christmas gifts for high school students. Please contact Mrs. Zeigler at (989) 845-2040 for more information. • The Covenant HealthCare Auxiliary will host its annual TREE OF LOVE & REMEMBRANCE ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. This year, the ceremony will be held indoors at the Cooper campus in the main lobby. After the ceremony, the Auxiliary will "officially" light the tree and serve refreshments. All proceeds raised from the sale of tree ornaments and lights goes toward projects that assist the hospital with patient care.

The Technology Development Department of the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce will host the seminar, “INTRODUCTION TO FACEBOOK” on Thursday, Dec. 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce, 215 N. Water Street, Owosso. All interested businesspersons and members of the public are welcome. Doug Cornell, technology development coordinator for the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce, will teach this seminar. This presentation is intended for anyone who is new to Facebook and the concept of social networking. Topics to be covered include creating a Facebook account, inviting friends to view your content, creating photo galleries, and using Facebook for business and personal use. • The ST. CHARLES HISTORICAL MUSEUM is offering the last few copies of the historical publication, "St. Charles, Michigan, The Early Years- 1848 thru 1970, A Scrapbook History", written by local author Dale Greve. Copies can be obtained from The St. Charles Hartley Memorial Library, St. Charles Village Office, Bare's Sporting Goods, Dave's Barber Shop,and Rodger's Dollar Store , or by calling 865-6833. The books are priced at $16.00 at the counter or $20.00 by mail order. All proceeds are donated back to the St. Charles Museum.


FEEDING 5K: A COMMUNITY WORSHIP EXPERIENCE is a contemporary worship service sharing the message of Jesus Christ in a relaxed atmosphere. Food and Fellowship

• The Montrose Eagles Club #4090 will be serving a COUNTRY BREAKFAST BUFFET on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon. The menu includes sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, hash browns, home fries, sausage patties and links, bacon, corned beef hash, eggs and omelets made to order, fresh made pancakes, French toast, strawberry shortcake, fruit, milk, juice, coffee and tea. The cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 6-12, and free for children ages 5 and under. • The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop will host a

SOUP AND PIE SUPPER on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the church, 7495 Orchard St., New Lothrop. The cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children. • The Chesaning Knights of Columbus will host a SOCIAL NIGHT from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the Chesaning K of C Hall. The menu includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, sloppy joes, coney dogs, brats, fries and onion rings. Social nights are open to the public.


NEW LOTHROP AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, for a regular meeting in the High School Library, 9285 Easton Rd., New Lothrop. The 2008-09 audit will be presented. • ST. CHARLES COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the conference room, 891 W. AMVETS STATE SERVICE OFFICER Nathan Pierpont will be at the Shiawassee County Veterans’ Affairs office on Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call the office at (989) 743-2231. • AMERICAN LEGION STATE SERVICE OFFICER Patrick Kline will be at the American Legion Post in Chesaning, 15053 McKeighan Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16. Veterans with service-connected disabilities or questions about VA benefits are encouraged to attend to find out more information about their status. They should bring a copy of their military DD214 or discharge, their Social Security number, spouse’s Social Security number, when and where married, dates of service, where enlisted and base where they left the service. Veterans may also be eligible to join the American Legion. A post representative will be there to answer any questions about the American Legion.

Health & Safety

• Diane Traver, Ph.D., CDE, will present information on “HEALTHY HOLIDAY EATING” on Monday, Dec. 14 at noon. This free presentation will be held at Stoney Creek Village located at 1694 N. M-52, Owosso. Dr. Traver will discuss the many ways in which people can help to strike a balance between maintaining a healthy diet and joining in the fun and festivities this holiday season. This presentation is offered as part of Memorial’s popular “Art of Aging” lecture series which is regularly scheduled to meet on the second Monday of the month. Support Groups

• There will be a HOLIDAY PET MEMORY BOX WORKSHOP on Monday, Dec. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Zauel Library, 3100 N. Center Road, Saginaw. This workshop is for anyone who has lost a pet. Participants will make a beautiful memory box to store their pets’ keepsakes. The cost is $5 (to cover materials). Most materials are supplied, but participants are encouraged to bring something special to add, like pictures or other precious items. Reservations are needed, and can be made by calling Sara at (989) 295-7144 by Dec. 14. Refreshments will be served.
